Avalox has just released some of their new ‘made in Sweden’ blades, the P900 and the Ruiba.

Here are some details and pictures, reviews will come later.

The Avalox P900

Excellent combination of specially selected 9-ply natural wood that enables high level allround offensive play.

These are some of my measured characteristics… these are not official specs as I’ve not seen these released anywhere yet:

  • 9-ply wood
  • Sealed wood surface
  • Weight ~85-90g
  • Thickness ~5.9mm
  • Made in Sweden

The sealed surface is a nice addition…I don’t believe the P500 / P700 have this, or if they do it’s a very thin seal. These blades are clearly sealed, giving them a bit of a shine, and it bring out the text as really clear. Here are some pictures:

Below are my own pictures, apologies for the poor lighting, I should have taken them during day time 🙂

The RUIBA Bloodwood Carbon

A 5-ply natural wood + 2 layers of high quality carbon. The specially selected bloodwood surface effectively maximizes the advantage of carbon power without losing the ideal feel of natural wood, allowing development of skill and technique to the highest level.

These are some of my measured characteristics… these are not official specs as I’ve not seen these released anywhere yet:

  • 5-ply wood + 2 ply carbon
  • Sealed wood surface
  • Weight ~90g
  • Thickness ~5.6mm
  • Made in Sweden

This Bloodwood blade has quite a strong seal too, which really brings out the beautiful look of the wood, while giving it good protection.
