Butterfly Tenergy 64 Reviews
TENERGY 64 is the fastest attacking rubber of the TENERGY family; the No. 64 being the development code of the pimples used in producing this reversed rubber.
BUTTERFLY High Tension technology has enabled a fast dynamic rubber to be produced by utilizing the innovative SPRING SPONGE. SPRING SPONGE enables a player to “grip” the ball and “catapult” the return back at high speed and with heavy spin.
TENERGY 05 is recommended for playing close to the table;
TENERGY 64 is for the attacker who plays for the offensive play in a middle distance.
Ratings:
- Speed: 135
- Spin: 105
- Hardness: 36°

Review by Kolev (Publised with permission):
Very first impression-QUICK, really quick and very, very dynamic. Possess broadband gears, especially in the hi-speed department bit faster than my Bryce Speed and Nimbus.
Throw – rather high
Block – excellent. Very consistent, and punchy
Close to the table counter – good, but I need more practice
Far from the table counter – just great with incredible pace
Close to the table counter loop – due to the speed I tend to throw the ball further than expected. More practice needed.
Mid/Far counter loop – marvelous, super spinny and controllable.
Loop Drive – easy and powerful. One of the best I’ve tried so far
Opening loop – no problems here. Way easier than the Bryce speed.
Push – the ball stays low with decent amount of spin
Flip – hmmm, I need more time
Chop – no, It isn’t for choppers
Smash – very easy with a pin point precision.
As I’ve mentioned, the sponge is a bit softer and flexible than the 05, but it doesn’t have an euro feel in it.
Still to post more impressions after the opinion of some of the best players in my club……. right David
Review 2:
Last night I spent quite some time serving and then playing against a long pimple player. I can say that I hardly ever came across so spiny rubber. My test was simple-I served a short chopped serve with the T64, 999EN, Aces, Bryce FX Speed. It was the spiniest of them all. With the T64 almost every ball came back to net. I was struggling to get even 3/4 of the same spin with the other rubbers. I felt that most of the job was done by the sponge of the 64, not just the top. Very consistent behavior
The guy I played against was excellent player with 25years of experience. Very difficult one. He had Feint Long(?) and Tackiness C 1.7 and he was attacking me with practically dead balls. It took me only 5min to adjust the T64 against him and to start punishing those balls. With my other rubbers I was insanely inconsistent when I had to deal with such balls. Then I asked him to go into my “nightmare mode”-chopping with the Faint Long, and guys, I’ve never been so proud with myself doing almost every ball with a precision never had before. AND WHAT A SPIN……all with an incredible control and feeling of security. Then I started smashing and the FUN began. I felt like the Terminator, Mad Max, Rambo……and a few more, all together….
BTW I played with 05 on a Maze and though it wasn’t bad, there was no the same impact on me as the 64 in all aspects of the game.

Ok my playing style is modern defensive.I’ve been playing for about a year.
I originally tried this in 1.9 on a Butterfly Defence II
Simply put it was too fast for me. I just could not control it.
Forehand chops would launch long.
Forehand loops would be long.
Pushes would be long or too high.
3 months later I returned to tenergy 64.
I’ve now got it in 1.7 on a Matsusheta Pro and its perfect.
Speed and Spin are excellent.
Forehand chops are pretty good.
Mid distance looping is soo easy. Even with a defensive blade.
The spin on serves is excellent.
Blocking is a breeze.
I still launch a few shots long on occasion but I just need more time to get used to the rubber.
I feel like this rubber can do everything.
Definitely worth the money.
Review 4:
This has to be Butterfly’s best rubber to date. It’s not quite speed glue effect but as near as damn it.
I use it on a Maze Off blade, so pretty quick and I use it both sides in max. I love it. It does just about everything really well – service, on the table or mid distance game with heavy spin and lots of speed due to the spring sponge. This can make net play a little tricky but with soft hands and a good touch and you soon get used to it.
On the down side there are 2 issues.
(i) If you play in humid or poorly ventilated facilities the rubber seems to ‘sweat’ and the ball just drops off the bat when you try to loop with it. Having said that I just flat hit and block with it and again the rubber performs this superbly well.
(ii) Because I tend to do heavily chopped service return close to the table I sometimes catch the rubber on the table surface. This has lead to the rubber perishing rather quickly for my stile of game. The middle of my bat has remained consistant for over 2 months now so wear and tear for this rubber is great. At a cost of £40 + it initially sound a lot but the rubber does last much longer. I play about 8-10 hours per week.

A truly gorgeous rubber! It is in my opinion the best rubber for the modern topsin player, together with the Tenergy 05. They are very similar indeed, however, the 64 has a softer feel and an increased dwell time. On the right blade, e.g. mizutani jun, kreanga carbon, it gives you a unique playing sensation and possesses a tremendous catapult effect. It is easier to block or to counterloop with the 64 than with the 05, because it seems less sensitive to incoming spin. Nevertheless, it can generate the same incredible amount of spin like the 05. I have the impression, that the 64 is more forgiving than the 05, which makes it suitable for less skilled players, though it is by no means a rubber for beginners, because the more skills you have, the more you can get out of it. If you play a harder blade and are a topspin player, you should definitely give it a try!
