Butterfly Tenergy 80 specifications

It seems the wait for latest Butterfly rubber, the Tenergy 80, is almost over…

~

With an anticipated release date of Jan 2013, information has been scarce, and the professional players that have tried have likely signed a non-disclosure agreement with Butterfly, as no reviews or playing experience has surfaced.

Here are a few details we’ve managed to find, for the benefits of those that just can’t wait… heh heh

Tenergy 80 Specifications:

  • Speed: 13.25
  • Spin: 11.25
  • Sponge Hardness: 36

Comparing this Tenergy 05 and tenergy 64:

Tenergy 05:
  • Speed: 13
  • Spin: 11.5
  • Sponge Hardness: 36
Tenergy 64:
  • Speed: 13.5
  • Spin: 10.5
  • Sponge Hardness: 36

So it seems to have the same sponge hardness as the 05 and 64, but somewhere in between the popular Tenergy 05 and 64 in terms of characteristics. Rumours are the pip shape is in-between that of T05 and T64 and performance is indeed in between the two. Will it be the best of both worlds? We’ll have to wait and see.

Details are further illustrated by this chart, although the positions are a little confusing…

Retail price for the Tenergy 80 is the same as that for the other Tenergy rubbers, and although they are amongst the most expensive rubbers, at least Butterfly did not put yet another premium on their latest rubber! Most retailers should pass on a similar price, although some may want to cash in on the early frenzy and charge more….

Just to show that this rubber does actually exist, here is a picture of the rubber on a bat, courtesy of Sergey Saveliev who posted this on facebook:

For now we’ll have to wait just a little longer, until us mere mortals get access to this rubber so that we can review it.

If you have any further information, please leave a comment here, thank you!
