Joola Octopus Reviews
Two of the world’s best defensive players, Chen Weixing and Latin American Champion Liu Song rely on the new long pimples rubber OCTOPUS, which has been developed in conjunction with these two defensive artists.
With OCTUPUS you can play extreme chop shots and also add variation by taking the ball early at the table. An extra hard sponge provides extremely awkward effects for your opponent.

Review 1:
This rubber is supposedly similar to the famous TSP p-1r but with a firmer sponge, and made in the same TSP factory. It is grippy long pimple, of very high quality and suitable for more advanced players.
Review 2:
Octopus is a much softer pip than I’ve tried before on a 50deg sponge, and is the most grippy. If you stand 2 meters back from the table, bounce the ball on the floor, then contact it at table height, you can do a lovely topspin to bring the ball down onto the other side of the table!
Obviously the angles of the strokes are totally different to FS.
Blocking against drive or moderate topspin is more or less a vertical block. Against heavy topspin the blade needs to contact the ball on the top and closed.
Chop blocking is great. Not being so dependent on incoming spin really benefits. My training partner is very used to pips and he was having real problems
Punch or hitting against backspin produces the usual topspin curve, but the blade needs to be almost closed. Attacking backspin is easy but the angle is more closed and the stroke more wristy than FS.
Attacking no spin balls is lovely. You can hit or topspin, your choice!
The problem for me is closing the blade, it is against all my instincts so I need to relearn it. But I’ll certainly stick with this for a coupla weeks. I’ve also got some Frustration to try and also, my coaches advice, some Half Long. Review by Julian
Review 3:
This is rubber for modern defensive player. i recommend that you use this with tacky rubber with a lot of spin in the forehand because when you do a chop with fh and then with bh your opponent believes that the chop is with a lot of spin and then he cuts the ball very tall, and you smash. this is very good also with short distance beacuse your opponent doesn’t see that the ball gives spin or not with this long pimples rubber and you smash too. i say this because my opponent has it and then i try the rubber and i think that this is very good rubber for defence with chops and backspins.
